I
have always been captivated but saddened by turn of the century black
and white photography of my ancestors. Photographers such as Edward
Curtis captures us at the end of our freedom. But this photography does
capture an essence of who we once were. In some of the art, I have borrowed
elements of this photography not to show The Spirit of who we once were
only to show The Spirit of where we are heading as our past guides us.
